Step One, Survey & Selection
Even a journey of a thousand miles must start with the first step… The original window was good for allowing more light into the room but our customer wanted to gain some outdoor space to enjoy the forthcoming spring weather. Careful measurements were taken to minimise the modifications to their roof and a suitable Cabrio® window unit was ordered.With such a wide range of sizes. Replacing an existing window is simplicity itself and the new unit was delivered and unpacked ready to go into place.

Step Two - Preparation
Carefully removing the plasterboard below the original window reveals the roof trusses modified when that one was fitted. These will need further modification to give full height clearance to fit the new Cabrio® window with built in balcony unit.VELUX Cabrio Balcony Window Installation
Step Three - Final Pre-Fitment Checks
The window aperture in the roof has been enlarged and the remainder of the modified timbers removed. Everything is carefully checked at this stage and the customer's roof was in perfect condition so fitting the new window and balcony can go ahead right away with no making good required.VELUX Cabrio Balcony Window Installation
Step Four - Installation Begins
The VELUX® outer frame has now been fitted with a top-hinged upper section and bottom hinged lower frame. Next, the hinged side rails for the balcony area are fitted and the appropriate flashing, chosen to suit the type of roofing material used is fitted to the outside to ensure a good seal around the new window.VELUX Cabrio Balcony Window Installation
Step Five - Installing the Window Panels
It is starting to look like a proper window now, the high-efficiency double or triple glazed panels go into place and the movements are carefully tested. Step Six - Finishing Off
With all the hardware now in place, locks, hinges and any motorised opening devices can be given a final test before signing off. Spaces around the frame are filled, insulated and battened ready for the finishing plasterboard is added. This is the stage where any VELUX® blinds would be fitted to give light control for optimal illumination from a mild tint to complete blackout.VELUX Cabrio Balcony Window Installation
